As part of the 2019 Jordan x Nike Icons Collection, which is inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s signature designs, includes the Air Jordan 8 Tinker inspired by the Air Raid. Covered in an official palette of Black, Light Concord, Aloe Verde, and University Red, the sneaker is made of nubuck and mesh for its upper, with neoprene for its tongue, and highlighted with its cross-straps. Pops of green for the lining, followed by hits of green, orange and red hues for the graphics on the heel, as well as the tongue area, completes the design.
The Air Jordan 8 is a new iteration of the silhouette inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s signature designs, and this pair resembles the classic Air Raid II, especially with the unique graphics. The Air Jordan 8 and Air Raid have long shared a close resemblance. Both geared for high performance hoops competition, each design featured unique cross-straps that locked down the foot for maximum support. For this release, the Air Raid II’s unique graphics return to inspire this new take on the Air Jordan 8.
New Air Jordans 2019, Featuring a silhouette that Tinker himself designed was one thing, but incorporating details from the classic ’90s Air Raid silhouette definitely takes this one to the ultimate next level. The shoe features a colorways that takes inspirations from the “Urban Jungle” Nike Air Raid. Colorful elements on the heel, outsole and tongue logo contrast the all-black nubuck upper, while black mesh panels also nod to the Air Raid. Combining two storied sneakers designed by Tinker Hatfield, the model channels 90s retro basketball vibes.
