Retro Jordan will be release a set of new Air Jordan 5 “Laney” colorways as part of an upcoming Air Jordan 5 JSP “Laney” Pack. Much like the original “Laney” release that debuted in 2000 and retroed in 2013, both releases will be inspired by Michael Jordan’s Emsley A. Laney High School. Switching things up from the 2000 version’s white-based upper, these two styles will instead use maize and royal blue-dominant designs. Based on the renderings provided, grey midsoles and liners will compliment the looks, which are finished off with white laces.
New Air Jordans 2019, Michael Jordan’s fledgling days at Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina are well-documented. Most know the famous story about Jordan being cut from the varsity basketball team as a rail-thin 5’11 sophomore who couldn’t dunk — and the motivation that the slight provided him to become great. Laney’s blue and yellow color scheme has served as a base for many Jordan shoes as well. The Air Jordan 5 JSP Laney Varsity Royal comes dressed in a Varsity Royal/Light Charcoal-Varsity Maize color scheme. Details on this shoe include a Varsity Royal nubuck on the upper, Maize hits on the lining, outsole, shark teeth on the midsole, 23 on the heel, and the furry Jumpman on the tongue. Other details include the icy translucent outsole, the Grey speckled midsole and what appears to be a reflective or at least Silver tongue.’
Much like the Jordan Racer 88 was inspired by the Air Jordan 3, the Jordan 89 Racer uses elements from the Air Jordan 4 that original debuted back in 1989. This iteration of the shoe, which is obviously inspired by the “White Cement” Air Jordan 4, features a clean White upper with details to mimic the iconic release. Cement print and the models signature Flight tongue label completes the design.
