Air Max 270,Blake Griffin has done stand-up, Comedy Central roasts, and funny commercials since being the #1 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. It’s safe to say that comedy plays a huge part in his life and this Air Jordan 35 PE pays tribute to the iconic comedy “Superbad” and most notably the character McLovin, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse.Meanwhile, fans were all pretty hyped about the pair as it’s something creative that we haven’t really seen before. Shoes are a way to express yourself and Griffin certainly did that with these.
The white base with sky blue overlays and tongue make up most of the Air Jordan 35. Styled in white and blue hues and originally made just for Griffin in his size 16, the tongue’s license details include his birthday, height, weight, hair and eye colors. The toe of each shoe is accented with “Chikka Chikka,” a line from the quirky Fogell character after he gets hold of the “McLovin” license. The address leads to Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. As far as tech goes, the 35 uses a large visible forefoot and heel Zoom unit with an updated Eclipse plate which stabilizes the cushioning without sacrificing weight. Flywire cables on the side panels pay homage to the Jordan V but also help give a better lockdown and fit.
Sporting a similar silhouette to the last few models of Durant’s line, the Nike KD 11 EP Oreo opts for the new React cushioning unit with the proven full-length Zoom Air embedded within. The first pair shown came dressed in a more Warriors-friendly color scheme of bright blues and volts to mimic the Golden State aesthetic. The shoe itself has a rubber cup sole that houses the Nike React and Nike Zoom. The former cushions between court and body, while the latter sits just under the foot to provide response. A key component in the resulting system was identifying the correct thickness for the foam element, which Chang notes is taller than in typical basketball shoes.
