2020 Jordans is a couple of days away and we have recently been seeing silhouettes celebrate the Chinese New Year holiday just like this Air Jordan 13. Crafted from an elegant ivory nubuck, the shoe’s high-cut upper features an all-over embossed Chinese coin graphic. The circles and diamond-shaped prints that make up this embellishment add a lifestyle-ready look to the Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette, and also call to mind images of the classical Chinese embellishments present on CLOT’s Air Jordan 13 Low “Terracotta” from 2018.
The Air Jordan 13 Chinese New Year 2020 is always ready to take on a new colorway. While it’s been dressed in numerous iterations since its debut, it has always been a silhouette that makes anything Jordan Brand throws at it, look good. Instead, it features a clean palette of white, camel, and hot pink, with the latter taking up the entire tread possibly in nod to our small-footed friend’s very own tail. The base leathers are left smooth where least visible, the toe box and tongue, with its medial and lateral paneling etching with various patterns somewhat reminiscent of the country’s traditional architecture. Mudguards and portions of the heel counter then contrast in their brown suede hits, a luxurious finish to a pair with many details yet to be revealed.
Chinese New Year is right around the corner which means you can be sure that Nike and New Air Jordans 2019 have some dope sneakers on the way to celebrate the occasion. After CLOT rethought the Air Jordan 13 with its Terracotta Army inspirations, the silhouette has only seen releases in seldom, though with Chinese New Year fast approaching, it seems Jordan Brand is borrowing just a touch from Edison Chen’s vision as they celebrate the Year of the Rat with its very own colorway. The sneaker features an ancient aesthetic in which Pale Ivory bathes the upper that showcases a debossed Chinese coin graphic that’s added in for contrast. Then Gold suddenly takes over the mudguard and back of the heels for contrast while a Digital Pink outsole finishes off the new design.
